Ruth Knight, Flute

Ruth Knight, kindly supported by the Henry Wood Trust and the Liz Lawrence Award, graduated with a First Class degree from the Royal College of Music in 2015. She studied with Susan Milan, Katie Bedford, Emer McDonough and Stewart McIlwham. She has appeared in concert series and festivals across the UK, including the Bath Music Festival, Mid-Somerset Festival, and the Young Artists Series at Corsham Pound Centre and the Wiltshire Music Centre. In 2010, following her success in the Mid-Somerset Festival concerto competition and solo woodwind recital competition, Ruth won Bath Young Musician of the Year. Ruth has performed across the UK in venues including Dartington Hall, the Guildhall (Bath), the Assembly Room (Bath), the Pump Room (Bath) and St George's (Bristol). Concerto appeareances include her performance of Chaminade's Concertino in the Wiltshire Music Centre in 2011.

She has performed in orchestral projects in collaboration with Bernard Haitink, Christopher Hogwood, Vladimir Jurowski and John Wilson, as well as in other ensembles. Alongside her orchestral career, Ruth is a keen chamber musician, and enjoys playing as part of the Orion Trio (flute, viola, harp), which competed in the final of the British Harp Chamber Music Competition in June 2015.
