Ayumi Tanaka was born in Wakayama, Japan, surrounded by beautiful mountains like here in Norway. 

 

She started to study music when she was 3 years old at Yamaha Music school in Japan. During her study there, she studied performance, composition and arranging. She has performed several international concerts held in Japan and Europe. In 2000, she got first prize at Yamaha Junior Electone competition. She has grade 3 license in Yamaha grade system which means she has very high quality skill. 

 

Since 2011, she has been studying at Norwegian Academy of Music in the department of Jazz improvised music with following teacher: Misha Alperin, Helge Lien, Anders Jormin as jazz teachers and Kristin Fossheim and Ellen Ugelvik as classic teachers. 

 

In her career as a professional pianist, She has her own trio, Ayumi Tanaka Trio(with Christian Meaas Svendsen and Per Oddvar Johansen) and some other projects as a side man. Besides her career as a performer, she is also an educator. She was invited as a instructor of workshop for kids during Oslo Jazz festival in 2013 and 2014, and private lessons and group workshop at Barnas Jazzhus in Norway. 

 

Through her educational background at Wakayama University at the department of Education in 2009, she also has been working as a math teacher for children at Japanese Supplementaly school in Oslo for developing her skill as an educator. 

 

Ayumi can help you to gain your music skill both technically and musically. Lessons will be carried through adjusting children's personality, and practice environment. You can also learn a variety of music genre like pops, rock, classic music if you wish.
